BUILT FOR THE LONG HAUL
We build every DartSolar to handle a decade of sun, freeway vibration, rain, and the rest of what the road throws at it. If something goes wrong because of how we built it, we’ll make it right. The terms below spell out exactly what’s covered, what isn’t, and how to reach us. If your situation doesn’t fit neatly into the lines below, get in touch anyway — we’d rather hear from you.
This is a Limited Warranty.
Effective May 2, 2026. This applies to anything you order from DartSolar on or after that date, for personal use in the United States. A quick note on terms: when we say “your DartSolar” below, we mean whatever you ordered from us at dartsolar.com. When we say “we” or “us,” we mean DartSolar LLC.
What is covered?
We warrant that your DartSolar will be free from defects in materials and workmanship — when you install and use it the way our instructions say, on a vehicle that is compatible with DartSolar, and not for commercial use.
All metal parts are covered for ten (10) years.
All plastic parts are covered for five (5) years, but can also be easily 3D printed and reproduced (visit open for more details)
All wires are covered for two (2) years.
All PCB boards are covered for two (2) years.
All solar panels are covered for ninety (90) days.
Parts availability
We’ll keep replacement parts and service available for at least ten (10) years after we stop manufacturing a given product. When possible, plastic parts will be made available in an open-source form so they can easily be 3D printed. Please see open for more details.
What’s not covered
A few things we can’t cover, even though we wish we could:
Normal wear and cosmetic changes — scratches, surface oxidation, decals fading. The product is going to look like it’s been outside for a decade because it has.
Damage from accidents, collisions, theft, vandalism, fire, flood, hail, lightning, or anything else outside our control.
Installation on a vehicle that isn’t on our compatibility list, or installation that doesn’t follow our instructions.
Modifying the product, having someone else repair it, or using parts and accessories we haven’t approved.
Using your DartSolar in ways we didn’t intend — overloading it, driving with the panels extended instead of retracted in transit position, that kind of thing.
Hanging things on the telescoping arms. The arms are engineered to carry the solar panels they were built for — nothing else. Hanging clothes, cargo, gear, lights, or any other load can bend or fatigue the structure. Damage from this kind of use isn’t covered, and clear evidence of it may end coverage on the arms and any components they damaged.
Commercial use. Your DartSolar is sold for personal, family, or household use. If you’re using it for rideshare, taxi, courier, last-mile delivery, food delivery, or any other for-hire or business activity — including fleet operations — it isn’t covered. (If you’re running a fleet and want coverage, get in touch and we’ll work something out separately.)
Damage to your vehicle’s contents or other property — refer to the Product Liability agreement.
Lost time, lost income, or other downstream losses (more on this in the legal bits below).
A note on power output
When we say a panel is rated at a certain wattage, that’s tested under standard test conditions (STC). We don’t promise any specific output level over the life of the product. Real-world output varies with installation angle, temperature, dirt, shading, and age, none of which we can control once it’s installed on your roof.
Warranty is not transferable
IF YOU SELL OR GIFT YOUR DARTSOLAR TO SOMEONE ELSE, THE WARRANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE. THE WARRANTY ONLY APPLIES TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER.
How we’ll fix it
If your DartSolar has a covered defect, here’s what we do — at our choice and at no cost to you for parts:
Repair the defective part;
Replace the product with the same model or something comparable; or
Refund what you paid, or give you credit toward a new DartSolar order.
We send you a prepaid return shipping label for covered claims in the contiguous U.S., and we cover the cost of shipping the repaired or replacement product back to you via standard ground freight. Shipments to or from Alaska, Hawaii, or U.S. territories may need cost-sharing — we’ll work that out with you upfront.
If someone other than us repairs or modifies your DartSolar, that may end coverage on the parts they touched.
How to file a claim
Use our contact form as soon as you can after spotting the issue, and in any case within a reasonable time. Include:
Your name and the original shipping address;
Your serial number;
A copy of the receipt or order confirmation;
A description of what’s wrong;
A few photos or a short video showing the problem.
We’ll get back to you within five business days with next steps, including a return authorization (RA) number if you need to send something back. Don’t ship anything to us without an RA number — unauthorized returns may get refused or sit in our receiving dock.
A note on electrical safety
Your DartSolar produces DC electricity any time the solar panels see daylight — there’s no on/off switch on sunlight. Before each use, give the wiring a visual once-over: look for cracked or worn insulation, exposed conductors, loose or corroded connectors, and anywhere the cable looks pinched, melted, or chafed. The door-gasket pass-through is a common spot for wear, so check there especially.
If you see anything that looks wrong, stop using the system, disconnect it from your power station, and contact us before plugging it back in. Please don’t splice, repair, or work on the wiring yourself — even when the system feels off, panels in light produce voltage, and improper repair creates shock and fire risk for you and anyone near the vehicle.
Damage caused by skipping these checks, or by repairs the owner attempts on energized wiring, isn’t covered.
Product safety and recalls
We keep serial-number records for everything we ship, including subsystem-level serials on major components. If we ever find a defect that creates a real safety risk — or one we have to report under the law — we will attempt to contact you by email, phone, SMS, mail, or any way possible and will display any safety issues in our safety page.
Because every order is registered automatically when it ships, you don’t have to do anything to receive a safety notice. We will always contact the original purchaser and the contact details they made available at the time of purchase.
If something goes wrong between us
Before filing a lawsuit, please contact us so we can try to fix the problem directly. We don’t have a formal arbitration process under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and you don’t have to wait around if we can’t resolve things in a reasonable time.
The legal bits
Some of this part has to read a certain “legal” way to do its job, but the gist is straightforward.
A note on damages. This warranty covers defects in the product itself — what we’ll repair, replace, or refund. BEYOND THAT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, DARTSOLAR ISN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE PRODUCT. FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE, YOUR PROPERTY, OR ANYTHING ELSE, PLEASE CONSULT OUR PRODUCT LIABILITY AGREEMENT.
Liability limit. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE’RE NOT LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES — INCLUDING ECONOMIC LOSS — WHETHER THEY COME FROM THE PRODUCT NOT WORKING, GETTING MISUSED, YOUR INABILITY TO USE IT, OR OUR OWN NEGLIGENCE. THE ONE CARVE-OUT: WE DON’T TRY TO LIMIT LIABILITY FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY A DEFECT WE’D COVER, WHERE APPLICABLE LAW LETS YOU RECOVER. SOME STATES DON’T ALLOW THESE KINDS OF LIMITATIONS, SO THIS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Implied warranties. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES — INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE — ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THE APPLICABLE EXPRESS WARRANTY ABOVE, OR THE SHORTEST PERIOD PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW IF LONGER. SOME STATES DON’T ALLOW LIMITS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THIS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Your other rights. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state. Nothing here cuts back any non-waivable rights you have under state or federal law.
Severability. If any part of this warranty is held unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Governing law. This warranty is governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes get resolved in state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California — except where consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring suit somewhere else, in which case those rights are preserved.
